Shannon EscarraTBRIĀ® Works

Weā€™ve been so privileged to work alongside St. Bernard Parish School District as they plan for a successful start of the year with their students. To bolster academic success, St. Bernard Parish Schools are going above and beyond to invest in the lives of their students. SBPS District continues to develop TBRIĀ® informed teachers and schools that strive to meet the needs of kids from hard places. Crossroadsā€™ staff recently provided training for SBPS new teachers and met with school TBRIĀ® Champion Teams to plan for their second year of implementation. Ongoing coaching and support will continue throughout the year as new school cultures begin to take shape.

What Does TBRIĀ® at School Look Like?

A middle school implemented ā€œFun Fridaysā€ where students and staff enjoy activities with the focus being to have fun and create connection. Another school has woven TBRIĀ® principles and language into their school motto and spirit wear. To build momentum throughout the year, teachers have committed to write a TBRIĀ® ā€œwinā€ on a sticky note for each staff meeting; eventually these notes will be posted on a wall where teachers can reflect on all of the positive things their school is experiencing through TBRIĀ®. In an effort to build connection, an elementary school is encouraging every staff member to ā€œFind 10ā€: Find ten kids to connect with each week between classes and talk with them about anything other than academics. We are excited to see even more TBRIĀ® wins this year!

Crossroads’ mission is to connect children in foster care to the families, individuals, and opportunities they need to thrive. We recruit new foster families from local churches, develop them into competent caregivers for kids from hard places through training in TBRIĀ®, and support them through the ups and downs of their journey as foster parents. Join the Home Team and support this life-changing work all year long!
