Staff and Board Directory

Anna PalmerĀ  Executive Director

Iā€™m from Georgia, but have lived in New Orleans since August 2005 ā€“ thatā€™s right, my hubby (Jon) and I moved here 19 days before Hurricane Katrina hit. Howā€™s that for timing? Jon and I adopted our first son, Eli, from Ethiopia in February 2011. Our youngest son Davis joined our family through adoption from foster care in July 2015. We love connecting to and supporting foster and adoptive parents. Before Crossroads, I served on staff at First Baptist New Orleans where I experienced what God can do when the Church is serious about being his hands and feet.

Mandi WallisĀ  Director of Operations

Iā€™m from Lafayette, and growing up, I said Iā€™d NEVER live in New Orleansā€¦but after living here for over 10 years, Iā€™m very happy to call this city home! Before joining the Crossroads NOLA team, I worked for 5 years with adults with developmental disabilities in the Greater New Orleans area, and also worked with college students in Morehead, KY, Lafayette, LA and South Asia.Ā I love problem-solving andĀ developingĀ systems, andĀ I really enjoy working atĀ Crossroads NOLA because I get to collaborate with an amazing team thatā€™s building better systems to care for vulnerable kids in our city and beyond.

Shelby Baird Director of Community and Family Engagement

Iā€™m from South Carolina, and my husband (Justin) and I moved to New Orleans in May of 2015, just two weeks after we got married! We have fallen in love with the city and love all things NOLA; from Mardi-Gras, to snowballs, and of course Saints football! We became foster parents in 2017 and since then weā€™ve partnered with several families on their road to healing. In 2020 we gained two official Bairds- one by birth and one through adoption. Ā Prior to joining the team at Crossroads I was a Special Education Teacher in St. Bernard Parish. Throughout my career it has been such an honor to work with children to see them reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. I am thrilled to continue that journey with Crossroads as I come alongside families that have said ā€œyesā€ to Godā€™s call to love children and families.

Shannon Escarra Development Director

Iā€™m Shannon from the Chicagoland area, but most recently returned from 4 years in the Middle East with my husband, Jeff. We arrived back in the U.S. with our two boys, Hudson (3) and Owen (2) and our desert dog, Hobbes (5). Iā€™m most passionate about sustainable community development, clean water for the worldā€™s thirsty, theology, and celebrating Christmas from November 1st onward. I love the mission of Crossroads NOLA because weā€™re participating in kingdom building work - equipping children & families to heal and thrive - impacting communities for generations to come. I have a decade of international fundraising and recruiting experience; my top priority is to steward investments with upmost responsibility and transparency. A few of my favorite things: coffee, Jazz Fest, being goofy with my kids, and celebrating impact stories with ministry partners as we watch the Lord transform the world.

Katie Baird RES Project Manager

Iā€™m Katie Baird (sadly no familial relation to Shelby, although Iā€™ll claim her any day!). I grew up in Baton Rouge, have lived in Tennessee, and DC and moved back to Louisiana in 2011.Ā Ā My husband, Robert, and I settled in Covington and since then our family has grown!Ā Ā We have four wonderful children, three biological and one adopted through foster care.Ā Ā Our foster journey started with Crossroads NOLA in 2014, and what a journey the last few years have been!Ā Ā Ā From fostering to reunification, providing respite, emergency placements, working with biological families, and fortunately enough adoption ā€“ we have personally experienced the highs and the lows of the child welfare system.Ā Ā The Crossroads crew and TBRI principles have been integral to our family over the years.Ā Ā In 2021, I was fortunate enough to become an official part of the team, and I feel honored to assist with recruiting, supporting and connecting foster families in our area.Ā Ā I am most excited to walk the walk with our families as we navigate the trials and triumphs of foster care with a Kingdom perspective.

Angela Johns Recruitment & Support Coordinator - North Shore

Hello, my name is Angela Johns.Ā I was born and raised here in South Louisiana; actually, I have lived in Livingston Parish my entire life other than a few years while I attended college at L.S.U.Ā I absolutely love traveling and visiting new places to learn from and experience new cultures and traditions; however, there is just something special about this place we call home. My husband, Russell, and I have three biological children ranging in age from 20 to 6.Ā  Prior to joining Crossroads NOLA family, I worked in the public school system for 20 years both as regular education and special education teacher.Ā  In 2018, we answered Godā€™s call for our family to the journey of foster care.Ā  Along our journey of foster care, we have welcomed children ranging in age from 7 to 18 into our family. This journey certainly has had its fair share of highs and lows, and I know that we would not have been able to continue this journey without the love and support of others. I am excited to be able to show this same love by developing and supporting relationships with other families so they feel empowered and equipped to follow the call Jesus has placed on their lives to help provide hope and healing to children and their families through foster care.

Megan Lewis Program Coordinator

Iā€™m originally from the Jackson, MS area; however, I lived in AL, GA, KY, and Europe before settling down here in New Orleans, LA to pursue a Masterā€™s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I first became connected with Crossroads NOLA as an intern and quickly fell in love with the team and their passion for loving and serving foster families. Through Crossroads NOLA, Iā€™ve found a unique niche in which my drive for efficiency and process development meets my passion for investing in others. I love creating repeatable, efficient processes that allow us to expand our reach and provide consistent support and care for the families we serve. Iā€™m excited and honored to be a part of what God has in store for Crossroads NOLA.
