New Foster FamilyStatement of Faith

CROSSROADS STATEMENT OF FAITH

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
  2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, his present rule as Head of the Church, and his personal return in power and glory.
  4. We believe that repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation.
  5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  6. We believe in the resurrection of Christ and in the resurrection of those who are in Christ.
  7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ with equality across racial, gender, and class differences.

CORE VALUES

  • Love – that is action-oriented and unconditional (1 John 3:18)
  • Selflessness – that gives priority to the need of others and requires sacrifice (Philippians 2:3-4)
  • Justice – that speaks for and defends the cause of the voiceless (Isaiah 1:17)
  • Hospitality – that redefines family as a place of belonging not necessarily determined by birth (Hebrews 13:1-3)
  • Interdependence – that acknowledges and promotes the value, dignity, and potential of every person (Genesis 1:27)
Crossroads NOLA is a faith-based nonprofit that recruits, develops, and supports foster families. Applicants are mature, healthy adults who follow Jesus and seek to love their neighbors in word and deed, are active members of a local church, and their beliefs and values align with Crossroads NOLA’s as outlined in our faith statement and core values. Our desire is to connect children in foster care to safe, loving homes. We believe the best way to do this is to partner with local churches to recruit foster families and family partners, so that no family fosters alone.
